Clearing a string buffer/builder after loop

One option is to use the delete method as follows: StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(); for (int n = 0; n < 10; n++) { sb.append(“a”); // This will clear the buffer sb.delete(0, sb.length()); } Another option (bit cleaner) uses setLength(int len): sb.setLength(0); See Javadoc for more info:

Reading and writing binary file

If you want to do this the C++ way, do it like this: #include <fstream> #include <iterator> #include <algorithm> int main() { std::ifstream input( “C:\\Final.gif”, std::ios::binary ); std::ofstream output( “C:\\myfile.gif”, std::ios::binary ); std::copy( std::istreambuf_iterator<char>(input), std::istreambuf_iterator<char>( ), std::ostreambuf_iterator<char>(output)); } If you need that data in a buffer to modify it or something, do this: #include <fstream> … Read more

Force line-buffering of stdout in a pipeline

you can try stdbuf $ stdbuf –output=L ./a | tee output.txt (big) part of the man page: -i, –input=MODE adjust standard input stream buffering -o, –output=MODE adjust standard output stream buffering -e, –error=MODE adjust standard error stream buffering If MODE is ‘L’ the corresponding stream will be line buffered. This option is invalid with standard … Read more
