Instead of doing findElement, do findElements and check the length of the returned elements is 0. This is how I’m doing using WebdriverJS and I expect the same will work in Java

Specify the protocol you are using, so instead of localhost:3000, use http://localhost:3000. If that doesn’t help, see the comment here on the Chromium issue tracker.

This is just an informational message. Your issue might be a missmatch between the versions of chromedriver and selenium-server-standalone.
