After a restart of Eclipse go to Window/Preferences/Server/Runtime Enviroments and click “add“ Now you will see the options for Tomcat (in my case Version 3.2 up to 8.0)
You need to edit the Eclipse Theme. Go to Window -> Preferences -> Appearance > Colors and Fonts. Search by Uncommitted Change (Foreground), edit and choose your preferred color.
I solved the problem. Go to Project Properties -> Project Facets -> Runtime -> New -> Add a tomcat server and in JRE select JRE1.8.0_XX. Did the work for me

I did a couple of things: 1.Added this to the beginning of eclipse.ini -vm C:/Program Files/Java/jre6/bin/server 2.Updated the eclipse definitions – using check for updates from within eclipse. Ok here’s what worked for me. (on java 8 JRE on WinXP) Preferences -> General -> Editors -> Text Editors: Background colour deselect ‘system default’ and choose pure black Now go to ‘current line highlight’ and make it your favourite shade of grey. RGB 60/60/60 works for me.
There’s two things you have to do, first you need to setup your compiler, then you need to setup CDT’s language processor.
