In python is there a way to check if a function is a “generator function” before calling it?

>>> 
>>> def foo():
...   return 'foo'
... 
>>> def bar():
...   yield 'bar'
... 
>>> print inspect.isgeneratorfunction(foo)
False
>>> print inspect.isgeneratorfunction(bar)
True
