Better way to convert a string to XmlNode in C#

should be straight-forward:

        string xmlContent = "<foo></foo>";
        XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
        doc.LoadXml(xmlContent);
        XmlNode newNode = doc.DocumentElement;

or with LINQ if that’s an option:

        XElement newNode  = XDocument.Parse(xmlContent).Root;
