Using sed to remove a block of text

$ cat text 
abc
    <!-- BOF CLEAN -->
... a bunch of stuff
    <!-- EOF CLEAN -->
def
$ sed '/<!-- BOF CLEAN -->/,/<!-- EOF CLEAN -->/d' text 
abc
def
