For me it helped to switch the “No Common Blocks” compiler setting to NO: It pretty much seems to make sense, the setting is explained here: What is GCC_NO_COMMON_BLOCKS used for?
I downloaded and installed the Build Tools for Visual Studio 2019. During installation I selected the C++ tools. It downloaded almost 5GB of data. The math library must be linked in when building the executable. How to do this varies by environment, but in Linux/Unix, just add -lm to the command: gcc test.c -o test -lm The math library is named libm.so, and the -l command option assumes a lib prefix and .a or .so suffix.
