SVN Error: Can’t convert string from native encoding to ‘UTF-8’

Yet another example:

$ svn update
svn: Error converting entry in directory '.' to UTF-8
svn: Can't convert string from native encoding to 'UTF-8':

$ export LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8

$ svn update

(… and all is fine now)
