Python requests exception handling

Assuming you did import requests, you want requests.ConnectionError. ConnectionError is an exception defined by requests. See the API documentation here.

Thus the code should be:

try:
   requests.get('http://www.google.com')
except requests.ConnectionError:
   # handle the exception
