Programmatically set height on LayoutParams as density-independent pixels

You need to convert your dip value into pixels:

int height = (int) TypedValue.applyDimension(TypedValue.COMPLEX_UNIT_DIP, <HEIGHT>, getResources().getDisplayMetrics());

For me this does the trick.
