How to activate the Bootstrap modal-backdrop?

Just append a div with that class to body, then remove it when you’re done:

// Show the backdrop
$('<div class="modal-backdrop"></div>').appendTo(document.body);

// Remove it (later)
$(".modal-backdrop").remove();
