Generate unique id – doctrine – symfony2

As of version 2.3, you can just add the following annotations to your property:

/**
 * @ORM\Column(type="guid")
 * @ORM\Id
 * @ORM\GeneratedValue(strategy="UUID")
 */
protected $id;
