Eclipse doesn’t highlight references anymore

There’s a little “highlighter” icon on the toolbar – it toggles “Mark Occurrences”.

From the preferences window, the feature you mean is configured by navigating to:

Window -> Preferences -> Java -> Editor -> Mark Occurrences
