Find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell Under this key find each VLC key you would like to remove from folder context menus (Optional) right-click each key and choose Export. I had the same problem. I used Zack’s answer and improved it like following so if you don’t specify a style the overridden default is still taken in account.
