How do I clear a search box with an ‘x’ in bootstrap 3?

To get something like this

with Bootstrap 3 and Jquery use the following HTML code:

</div>

and some CSS:

    width: 200px;
}
#searchclear {
    position: absolute;
    right: 5px;

    bottom: 0;
    height: 14px;
    margin: auto;
    font-size: 14px;
    cursor: pointer;
    color: #ccc;
}

and Javascript:

$("#searchclear").click(function(){
    $("#searchinput").val('');
});
