Get background color of a Layout

This can only be accomplished in API 11+ if your background is a solid color.

int color = Color.TRANSPARENT;
Drawable background = view.getBackground();
if (background instanceof ColorDrawable)
    color = ((ColorDrawable) background).getColor();
