java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: contains a path separator

The solution is:

FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream (new File(NAME_OF_FILE));  // 2nd line

The openFileInput method doesn’t accept path separators.

Don’t forget to

fis.close();

at the end.
